FAQ

What is decorative concrete?

Decorative concrete is basically any style of concrete beyond a natural grey broomed finish. We can enhance the look of your new concrete pad by adding integral color, stamping the surface with one of our many patterns from bricks to natural rock textures and even finish it off with the most durable finish of exposed aggregate. Each finish can be used to compliment any landscape.

Why did my concrete crack?

There are a few reasons why concrete cracks in Manitoba. Our ground is constantly moving. Due to our extreme weather conditions our concrete pad go thru many different cycles that cause the ground to contract and expand. Because of this we put relief cuts into fresh slabs to help control where a pad cracks. Another reason is surface drainage. If water is allowed to pool along side concrete it will often make its way under a slab. If it gets under a slab and freezes the expanding water will life a pad off of its base.

How can I maintain my concrete?

The best way to maintain your investment is to wash your pad regularity. We continually track dirt and road salt onto driveways. Salt is corrosive and can, over time if left sitting, can lead to surface scaling, discolouration, and seep into cracks. If pets are allowed to go to the washroom on the pad it should be neutralized with baking soda and power washed.

How long will a concrete project take?

The typical slab on grade will take us 4-5 days from start to finish, pending weather conditions.

How often should I reseal my stamped concrete?

Stamped concrete should be resealed about every 2 years. Sealer helps protect your finish and color. It naturally breaks down slowly by UV from the sun.

What is MPa mean?

MPa (megapascals) is a unit of measurement that quantifies the compressive strength of the concrete, indicating how much force it can withstand before cracking or failing. We use use 32MPa for most standard pours.

How is the color added to concrete?

The color is added directly into the concrete truck when the concrete is first mixed at the batch plant inside the city limits. If we pour outside of our supplier’s delivery range we will mix on site by adding color to the trucks ourselves.
